Starring the actor, writer and comedian Sally Phillips (Smack The Pony, Miranda, Bridget Jones\u2019 Diary), the mockumentary-style short explores the often hilarious challenges of building a meaningful connection with a bot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pledge People, Not Bots\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N0HvOj_IeNc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Scripted by comedy writer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.andreamann.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Andrea Mann<\/a>, (Never\u00a0Mind The Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You), the short follows Sally as she desperately tries to elicit a response from her new robotic companion, <strong>Robota<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From seeking relationship advice to redecorating to just getting help when she needs it most, Sally tries everything to connect with her AI associate. But, just as in the real world, Robota struggles to understand or empathise with Sally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AnywhereWorks commissioned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.objekt.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Objekt Films<\/a> &#8211; award-winning film production company behind ads for Adidas, Snapchat and WWF &#8211; to shoot the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/answerconnectbloguk\/1\/2022\/01\/Sally-the-bot-redecoration-scene-still.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9788\" srcset=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/answerconnectbloguk\/1\/2022\/01\/Sally-the-bot-redecoration-scene-still.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/answerconnectbloguk\/1\/2022\/01\/Sally-the-bot-redecoration-scene-still-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/answerconnectbloguk\/1\/2022\/01\/Sally-the-bot-redecoration-scene-still-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And despite the humour, the short points to a very real problem with bots; they can never offer the same connection of a real person. Consumers already know this instinctively; 84% think companies should disclose if they are using AI instead of real people in their customer service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to the launch of the Pledge, AnywhereWorks commissioned an <a href=\"https:\/\/anywhereworks.com\/pledge-people-not-bots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">independent survey<\/a> into consumer attitudes. Conducted by OnePoll, the survey gathered responses from 6,000 consumers, covering the UK, US and Canada. And the results showed a remarkable gulf between current business trends and consumer preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/answerconnectbloguk\/1\/2022\/01\/Sally-smling-in-still-from-pledge-video-4.jpg\" alt=\"Sally Phillips in Pledge People, Not Bots video still\" class=\"wp-image-9789\" srcset=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/answerconnectbloguk\/1\/2022\/01\/Sally-smling-in-still-from-pledge-video-4.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/answerconnectbloguk\/1\/2022\/01\/Sally-smling-in-still-from-pledge-video-4-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/answerconnectbloguk\/1\/2022\/01\/Sally-smling-in-still-from-pledge-video-4-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, 78% of consumers said they prefer to speak to a real person over a bot when calling, live chatting or emailing a business. But one stat stood out as the most surprising of all; 38% of consumers say they&#8217;ve contacted a business and talked to a person only to realise they were actually speaking to a chatbot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses build connections with their customers on a foundation of trust. Maintaining that trust means being transparent with your customers.
